Ok, so I got it, despite my original thoughts. The nonstop postive talk enticed me, so to speak. Needless to say, the good reviews were for good reason. The game is fucking great. The story is good, the revamped aiming system is great, the city is massive and a wonder to explore. The sheer amount of extra crap in this game is ridicoulous, and they don't even shove it in your face. I JUST noticed yesterday that you could watch TV. And there's a lot of stuff on the TV! Republican Space Rangers is great. Speaking of which, the game is more or less filled to the brim with political humor and satire. Not so much to the point where it gets annoying, though.

The music is also great. I haven't listened to a lot of most of the stations, but Liberty Rock is my favorite, followed by JMR (The jazz station). You can't go wrong with Queen, ELO, David Bowie, Genesis, R.E.M. and so forth. Vice City's soundtrack is still the best, though.

The multiplayer is also fucking great. Free mode is absolutley nuts. The amount of multiplayer modes in this game is also nuts. I think there's around 15. For something they didn't even NEED to put in, they really went the extra mile for this. Deathmatches without blips on the radar are so fun.

But yeah, game's good. And not too many children on Live so far, which is ALWAYS a good thing.

Hmm. And here I thought it would just be another wank like San Andreas.

I've never owned any GTA, but I have gotten good ideas of what they are all like because a friend of mine down the street gets all of them, and I play them there occasionally.

So I tried GTA 4 there and I do think it's the best out of all of them. The others bored me fairly quickly, but this one is dynamic enough that everything you do is always a little different. And the climbing is great. Anything that looks like you could climb it, you can. Only problem is he gets stuck holding on to things sometimes.

I actually want to buy this one for myself, but my mom wouldn't be too happy about that... Meh.

Definitely the best GTA yet.

the story is awesome (for gta at least) and thats what really made this for me. the action is also great, and the small details are quite nice.

I've never played a GTA, that was always my older brother's thing.

I'm going to say this though. I love just about everything about this game. And I really mean that. It's definately one of the best games I've ever played, and I'm not just saying that because it's the game I'm playing at the moment, it really is just fantastic. Just goes to show how inferior San Andreas and Vice City are. Sure, in San Andreas you could do a few extra things, but no normal person cares if your character has tatooes and different hair-styles.

I havent even heard much of the music. I usually have that news station on, and I'm amazed at how much it keeps up with the story.

I can certainly see why it got 10/10 at several gaming websites.

I have been playing pretty much everyday since midnight launch. I'm 32~% done with the game... Some AWESOME things I have noticed:

200 pigeons that you have to kill. Holy damn!! I got 3 so far!
Love the whole Friend system thing. Sure, you don't NEED to do it, but because of it, !!SPOILER!! can give me CHOPPA rides all over the map!
Hiding behind walls works REALLY well.
Using the Taxis are GREAT. I can go ANYWHERE for about 30 bucks (if you hurry). Using the Taxis to skip to certain objectives/contacts makes the huge map nothing to be afraid of.
Exploring is wonderful. If you want to get somewhere, well, read above. But if you want to explore, there is stuff everywhere. Just a lot of places to GO!

Some NOT AWESOME things, though:
Brakes are sucky. I drift EVERY time I brake. This is ridiculous...
I love Achievements, but most of the non-story-related Achievements seem kinda lame. All Export missions? All Package missions? That stuff's easy! What about "Killing 100 people with knife?" Or "Eat at all Hot Dog stands?" Or "Visit all streets?" And beat story in under 30 hours? THAT is cruel...


Whining aside, best GTA ever, very fun so far!!

It's really this good? I want it pretty bad but my Xbox is where my younger siblings usually are and my parents complain if they hear the terrorists in Rainbowsix: Vegas.

Huh. And here I thought it'd be another lame generic release.

Oh well. I doubt I'll ever play it, though.

...Is a game i won't buy.

Wha? Really? The game is like a movie in itself. My fiancée watches when I play, and it's one of the more entertaining games to watch.

Want to have a good laugh? Speed down a highway or bridge and smack into something solitary to send Niko flying out the window. How far he flies, or sometimes what he hits as he's flying is hilarious!
