Who doesn't like the soothing sound of Rammstein in the morning?

If there's one thing the Sonic franchise keeps winning at, it's the music. All the final boss themes (esspecialy the final theme for Sonic 3), Chemical Plant Zone, and.............................

I have always loved the songs in the 2D Sonic games, especially Sonic 3 and Knuckles, but that may just be nostalgic reasons.

Though the menu music in Secret Rings was enough to turn me away from the game, as well as the last straw I had in faith in the Sonic series.

Also, I grew up without a Genesis, but I did have a PC version of Sonic 3 and Knuckles. It was basically the exact same thing, though the music was completely different in Carnival Night Zone, Ice Cap Zone, and Launch Base Zone (and Sonic 3 credits I THINK). There were also slight differences in the Sky Sanctuary Zone song, as well as Flying Battery Zone Act 1 (well, when the music is set to FM Synthesizer that is. There was an option to choose between FMSynthesizer or General MIDI. For some reason in FM Synthesizer, the bass was set differently in that song, but was the same as the original when on General MIDI.) Also, I prefer each song on the PC version to that of the Genesis songs, but once again, that may just be from nostalgia. I've also found out that all versions of the PC Version's music out there on the internet are TOTAL CRAP because they're recorded from a newer computer rather than the cool sounding old computers the game was designed for. So I went and recorded most of the songs with my own microphone next to my Win 95 computer's speaker, and the quality was rather good. Not perfect, but certainly listenable.

um...I don't know where I was going with this

Think you could upload your recordings? I don't care if they were recorded from the mic, despite the audiophile I am. I'm just really curious as to how the collection really sounded with an FM Synthesizer.

I uploaded it for another forum a couple months ago, but I had to search for the link

Here it is: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YTLADKU5

Again, it doesn't have every song. It doesn't have Angel Island or any of the bonus levels in it (don't ask why I didn't include Angel Island Zone)

Also I didn't include Ice Cap Zone Act 2 either because the only difference in FM Synthesizer was the drums, and that was barely noticeable anyway.

Hmm, well, this is...interesting.

I never realized how...dated PC FM synth sounded. I mean, Monkey Island sounds fine on it, but considering the Genesis also uses FM synth (The YM2612), the difference is pretty drastic.
