Sonicnerd's Review Thread Day 12: Iron Man (2008)

Postby SonicNerd23 on Sun May 04, 2008 5:18 pm

Backstory: I went to go see this movie today. It was directed by Jon Favreau, produced by Avi Arad, and scored by Ramin Djawadi. Wow! Lots of wierd names.

Plot: 10/10: This is based off of the Iron Man comic series. When Tony Stark goes to Afghanistan to test his new weapon, the Jericho Missile, he is ambushed by terrorists. Yes, terrorists. During the ambush, an explosive plunges a shrapnel into Tony's heart. After the terrorists kidnap him, they throw him in a cell and tell him they'll free him if he builds a Jericho Missile for them. In them cell, the shrapnel wound is treated by Dr. Yinsen, a fellow cellmate. Tony modifies this treatment to make a power generator for himself. Along with Dr. Yinsen, they don't make the missile, but they make the prototype Iron Man suit for Tony to escape in. When Tony returns to America, he declares at a press confrence that Stark Industries will not make any more weapons, something that his colleague Obidah Stane is not happy about. Afterwards, Tony works on his Iron Man suit a bit more. Meanwhile, in Afghanistan, the terrorists find the pieces of the old Iron Man suit that scattered when Tony tried out the rocket boosters for the first time...

Special Effects: 10/10: Yes, yes, YES!!! Like in the 1978 Superman, you'll believe a man can fly!

Acting: 10/10: Robert Downey Jr., I salute you.

Audio: 9/10: Average film score, but it has kickass tracks like AC/DC's "Back in Black" or Black Sabbath's, well, "Iron Man". And the best part! Back in Black is the first music you hear!

Sequels and Spin-offs: 10/10: It has been said that this is the first of a trilogy. Please hope this is true.

Overall: 9.5/10: SEE THIS MOVIE IN THEATERS. NOW. EVEN WHEN THE CREDITS END.

Unless you hate Samuel L. Jackson.

Any longer and Tony would have been brutally beaten to death.
