Well, it's back to square one for now I suppose.

This is where all questions, suggestions, and complaints concerning our troubled server switch should be located. Duplicate threads will be locked.

In any case, yes, we have hit a snag. Apparently, we were IP banned from our Lunarpages server. From what we know (or at least as I understand it), when we've tried to download the forum or main pages files, we are disconnected at 2 MB and can no longer access them. Rabbit is trying to work with Lunarpages on resolving this problem and while their help has been greatly appreciated, it has also been delivered very slowly.

For now, Planet Freedom will resume its old role as our de facto forum. Once we get this whole matter settled and our official forum is back in place, we will once again close this one. It'll still be kept in reserve.

Yeah, essentially, I'm working with Lunar, trying to get them to unblock us from our own server.

It seems that when we downloaded our materials, we opened too many connections and their firewall automatically blocked us. Obviously, a real hassle, and despite how amusing I find it that the admins were banned from their own server, it's no laughing matter when you consider that we're paying good money for this crap, so we expect it to work, dammit.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: making new poop forums is silly; it does a great disservice to the users by spreading out useful information. It makes it hell to coordinate anything worthwhile.

For now, this will be our temp home.

If you decide to coordinate anything, I suggest you keep backups of the info on the threads you use. And when YCP is back up and running, we'll try to give ample time so that you can get posts and threads and whatever else you want before we close up shop.

I'll likely post updates here as things occur.

For me, this will mainly serve as a way to get information to people so that I don't get a bunch of hits from MSN asking me what's up with the server.

I don't really have any authority here, but I think it's safe to say that's a no. Not only because this is just a temp forum and it would be a waste of effort since it'll close again later, but also because this is a freeforum, limiting what you can do with it DRASTICALLY. Meaning: I don't think alternate skins or topic icons are available for freeforums.

They were annoying anyway. Thank God for Adblock. They were only useful on the original forum because the default way to view topics was all in one big...thing. But having section icons when the sections are right there were just redundant in my opinion.
